Love and Blessings Everywhere

Making plans for a weekend out of town requires a strategic expert…another hat we Mommy’s wear with pride. The planning starts a week ahead of time and the packing must be precise. I have recently discovered that the contents in one’s luggage is a direct link to one’s priorities. Take me for instance. A year and a half ago, I would have required my own suitecase…just for shoes and accessories. I have trimmed the fat and  now travel with only my most comfortable sandals and a pair of neutral heels, enabling me to share a suitcase with Aaron. Harper on the other hand does require her own bag…you know, for all of her shoes and accessories!
This weekend after loading up the bus that we now drive in order to accomodate our toddler, two dogs, and Aaron’s golf clubs, we headed south , anxious to catch up with some of our very best friends. We are so thankful to Gammi and Poppy for watching our girl for us while we attended the wedding of the now Mr. & Mrs. Jason Starnes. Erica was more stunning than ever and aside from the annoyance of this stupid summer cold, the night was absolutely perfect. I find it refreshing to sit with my husband and watch as another in-love couple repeats their vowels- the same vowels we repeated to each other four years ago. Sacred and Romantic. Ahhh. Weddings are great for reuniting old friends and this wedding was no different. It allowed me to meet up with a couple of my absolute favorite girls.

A 40wk pregnant Matron of Honor. Lindsay is such a trooper.
Me and Kerry
Notice Aaron’s tan…did I mention the golf clubs?!?

My Mom granted Aaron and I with the rare luxury of sleeping in on Sunday. And IT. FELT. GOOD! It’s the little things, right? We spent the morning lounging and watching Harper sing, “ashes, ashes, ashes, ashes, DOWN!” (her version of Ring Around the Rosies) as she spun in circles and threw herself to the floor. We made several comments about how dizzy she must be, and I have Mommy’s guilt for not stepping in before what happened next. Long story short- my girl is officially a snaggle-tooth. She lost her balance and fell face first into the wood floor and chipped her perfect little baby tooth. I loved that baby tooth. Needless to say, we have an appointment with the dentist for tomorrow morning…

On a brighter note, that Trooper mentioned above…you know the one that served as Matron of Honor in her friends wedding on the day that she was supposed to deliver her son. Well…she is delivering her son. Today. Right now. And I could not be more excited. I have always been happy for friends and family when they recieved the blessing of a child. But now that I have lived that experience, my heart literally swells with joy for them. Lindsay is one of my very best friends, and if anyone deserves such a blessing, it would be her. Lindsay and Tom are going to be fantastic parents. Fun. Patient. Giving.
Jackson James Aly- you are one lucky little man and I can’t wait to snuggle you.
