Monday’s Mission: Be Thankful
I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have stepped in to my ‘walk-in’ closet and declared that I have absolutely nothing to wear. Ridiculous. Trivial. Selfish.
I recieved a swift kick in the you-know-what yesterday morning while listening to our Sunday School leader describe his experiences on his most recent mission trip to Sudan. He tearfully recounted stories of people who literally have nothing to wear and who suffer in 120 degree temperatures day in and day out while I complain that my AC is having to work overtime and unable to cool my house below 77 degrees. Shameful.
My newest mission is simple: Be Thankful. More Thankful. The next time I walk in to my closet, I will thank God and then I will say a prayer for those who live a life of true suffering, because let’s face it…most of us have more than enough.
Ugh. Thanks for the guilt trip (said most lovingly). I so agree. Gonna spend extra time thanking Him for all that I have.
Sorry! That’s exactly how I felt listening to those stories. We take so much for granted. But I’m a work in progress…
