You Can Have a Six Pack or You Can Have A Six Pack…But You Cant Have Both
It’s true what they say, abs are made in the kitchen. If your looking for a tight tummy, 80% of your effort should be spent on clean eating/drinking. You cannot exercise away a bad diet. The thought that ‘Hey, I just ran a mile, I think I’ll treat myself with a cookie.’ will never get you the results you are seeking.
What will get you a tight tummy?
- Just Say No! To sodas that is…and any other sugary drink for that matter.
- Drink more water
- Eat whole grains instead of refined grains
- Lift weights/strength train
- Sprint
- Eat a high protein breakfast every morning
- Enjoy smaller meals more frequently to keep your metabolism steady
- Plank (While in a push-up position lower yourself to your forearms so that your back is in a straight line. Hold this static position for as long as possible.)
It is sometimes thought that you can crunch your way to great abs. Not so much. You can do 100, 200, even 300 crunches a day, but if your abdominal muscles are covered by a layer of fat caused by poor diet choices no one will ever be able to appreciate all of your hard work.
Below is a picture of my abs taken yesterday. They aren’t perfect. I’m a work in progress. I’m using myself as an example to prove a point. I have not done a traditional crunch in months. I focus on eating clean and weight training which engages my core. I do a plank a day for time and twice a week I incorporate leg lifts or roman twists into my workout.
Oh, and the outie…I have the sweetest 6month old to thank for that. And she is so worth it!
Your abs look great!! AND you have a 6 month old! 🙂 congrats on your hard work!
Thank you! I am feeling better than ever:) Have a wonderful weekend.
