Ouch. Ouch. OUCH!

Happy Friday All! I have been looking forward to this weekend my entire life. Really! We’ve got a Saturday jammed pack. Bright and early tomorrow morning I will drive Harper to her very first ballet class. Eeek! She told her teacher yesterday that she is going to be a ballerina fairy. Glad to hear that she shares my excitement. And then shortly after that we will be celebrating her 3rd birthday with a party at The Little Gym. It’s going to be a Happy Happy Happy weekend…if I am able to get out of bed…

Yesterday, in between a free-weight circuit for shoulders, biceps, and triceps and a short ab routine, my long time workout buddy, friend, and confidante Ginger introduced me to a new move she had learned in a class last week while I was out sick. It sounded so easy. So simple. But WOW! My entire core, every last inch of it is burning today. Laughing? Hurts. Sneezing? Hurts. I even feel it when I breathe.

I have done many different variations of side bends, crunches, planks. I love a tight core and I thought that I had done it all. Maybe this new move is so simple that I managed to overlook it. And if you have been doing this already, how dare you for not sharing!

Here’s the deal. Stand with your feet slightly more than shoulder width apart. Hold a dumbell, one hand on each end straight above your head. Now slowly bend to one side as far as you can go making sure to keep your arms straight. Now slowly bring yourself back up to starting position, arms straight above your head. Now bend the same exact way to the other side, as far as you can go, arms straight with dumbell in hand. I used an 8lb dumbell and like I said, feeling the burn. We did 3 sets of 10 on each side. But you could easily do it for time.

Try it! Let me know what you think.
