Monday’s Mission: More Than Survive

First of all…I have to wish a happy birthday to my much better half. Today marks the 16th birthday that I have shared with him. And in all honesty, the older this man gets, the more deeply I fall in love with him.

I know, I know. Life isn’t fair. But why do men get better looking with age and I am fighting gravity every way I can imagine?

Happy Birthday Aaron!

Monday’s Mission: I have always considered myself to be fairly self motivated. I don’t need a drill sergeant breathing fire down my back in order to push through a final set and I don’t need a cheer squad’s encouragement to run that extra mile. But you know what they say? You never stop learning. And I have had a recent revelation about myself. I can do these things on my own, but only when I have a goal in mind. So, in order to celebrate the big 3-2 in April, I have signed up for my very first Survival Run. Yes, these runs are for fun and most people aren’t actually competing. But if you know me, you know that I am a competitor. So is my dear husband. Which is why we never-ever-under any circumstance work out together. We once attempted a ‘jog’. A ‘jog’ that ended with us breathlessly arguing while simultaneously throwing our near lifeless bodies across the finish line that didn’t even exist when we first began. Okay, he was probably waiting with crossed arms on me to finish, while I argued and threw myself across the finish line. I could never beat him. Ugh! So frustrating! That’s beside the point. The point is, I am running a race. And I refuse to finish last. I have cut my cardio sessions to nearly nothing in the past several months and now I have a reason to get obsessed again. So my mission on this Monday, (oh dear, I just realized that it is Tuesday, Hahaha!) is to prepare for this Survival Race with not only hopes of ‘surviving’, but with hopes of actually being a competitor.
