Getting to Know Me

My hopeful intention with this little blog is to provide some insight to my girls as to who their Momma really is. I hope that if there is ever a day that they are missing me, or questioning me, or questioning themselves, that they come here and read, laugh, cry, and feel like they know their Momma a little better. I want them to know my imperfections, my silly quirks, my stubbornness, and of course how great my love for them is. Beyond measure.

With that being said- here are some random facts about me.

  1. I was President of the Science Club in High School and went to college to teach Jr. High Science, only to learn…I can’t teach. It’s how my brain is wired. If I know, I know. Please don’t ask me how I know, how I got the answer, or to explain my train of thought.
  2. I grew up a dancer; jazz mostly, and once danced center court at a Houston Rockets game. I’ve also won metals for Jitterbugging with my PawPaw. I’m secretly hoping for a Dancing with Moms on ABC…
  3. I feel most natural as a not-so-natural red head. Go figure!
  4. In 7th grade, Aaron and I were ‘dared’ to date each other. We maybe not-so-politely declined.
  5. I honestly believe that we are ALL created equal. Keep your racist comments to yourself.
  6. I’m frugal to a fault. I don’t recall the last time I spent more than $35.00 on an item of clothing for myself.
  7. I eat entire lemons. Peel and all.
  8. My four front teeth are fake (and it has nothing to do with the lemons).
  9. Aaron and I dated 6months before our first kiss.
  10. I hate for people to look at me, which is one of the reasons I married in a small ceremony in Mexico. I joked up until that day that I was going to make all of my wedding guests face the outside walls while I walked the isle. And I was only half-way joking.
  11. I was the most annoying teenage girl and am so glad that Facebook did not exist when I was in High School.
  12. My friends have named my laugh. “The Cackle.”
  13. My dream job would be writing. I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember. I was even approached by a Nashville song writer when I was in high school about writing music.
  14. My first love was Volleyball. I played one year of college ball before transferring to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
  15. Small-talk petrifies me. I stumble over words, stumble over myself…it ain’t pretty.
  16. When I was 18, I used my income tax return and took off to Spain with two friends. We had no plan. No clue. And I highly recommend it!
  17. When I was in high school, my dream was to move to NYC and work in a coffee shop.
  18. I’m shy. Very!

Surprised?!
